PRWeek reported last month that Innocent Drinks is using public affairs outfit Tetra Strategy to lobby against VAT on smoothies.
This week, Vince Cable, deputy leader of the Liberal Democrats, said his party would raise tax on strong alcoholic drinks and use the extra money raised to cut VAT on pure-fruit drinks from 17.5 per cent to five per cent. Cable joked that the move would complete the Lib Dem's transformation from the 'party of beards and sandals to the party of smoothies'. Proof, if it were needed, that lobbying works
